Thesis Title & Minor Developments

So, yes, my thesis has a title, which is, of course, subject to change. However, it might not, as this title meets the rigorous requirements for thesis titles that I have collected through painstaking seconds of research on Twitter.

Like a sonnet, limerick, or other poetic devices, a thesis title has a certain number of things that it has to have before it is really properly a thesis title. Those requirements mean that it has the following items in a specific order:
  • something witty, preferably a cultural reference (pop or otherwise)
  • a colon
  • a more descriptive sub-title.
Now, having a thesis title without these elements is rather like only writing in free verse. You can do it, sure, and some people are really good at it, and some decent poems have been written that way. But there is a certain amount of discipline required to meet the requirements of, say, a dirty limerick, and a good poet knows these and can write something that fits into the often-times crowded and competitive genre.

So, the title is done, and so, without further delays, of any sort, where I pretend to delay the inevitable by thinking you didn't automatically read the bolded and larger texts just below this really extensively and stupidly long line, I should think that I will present the title. After the jump. Wait, no. Here it comes:

Now, I realize that ths might change, especially the 3rd part (I really think I nailed the colon, though). As for the first part, I'm a little antsy on the lack of an apostrophe, but, because I use
Bob's Quick Guide to the Apostrophe, You Idiots, I am sure I am correct. (He's not as pleasant as Grammar Girl, but he'll do.)

In other news, I have found my cache of academic articles that I have read throughout my career at NIU. These hold such favorites as some stuff by Lessig, as well as some Slack, Miller, Bakhtin, and the always amazingly annoying Foucault. And, because the eldest daughter is down with the flu, I'll be pretty much at home all weekend...working on this. Which is probably wise.
